Apples, Apples

Our neighbors have an abundantly producing apple tree and recently gave us 3 boxes of apples. After an apple pie and a batch of pie filling, and giving some to a friend, I still have a lot of apples left! I'm not really sure what kind they are, but they are great for baking so I'm planning on making some pies for our church's bake sale coming up this Saturday. That will use up some but I know that I'll still have a bunch left over. I'm planning on making another batch of pie filling today after school, and probably an apple pizza for dessert tonight. Does anybody else have any other ideas for using these apples? I would love to freeze some but I''m not sure what would be the best way. Any ideas?

I like to cut them up in a pan, add a little water, then when they have cooked down I add sugar and cinamon. Homemade Applesauce!

I've never heard of freezing apples but I have heard of dehydrating them (aka drying). I have a dehydrator you can borrow. :)

Vonnie, I'll be right over!

I have a slow-cooker recipe for apple butter - mmmm... maybe you can run some of those apples over to me so we can try it!! Then after we get done with that, I'll show you how to make apple pie enchiladas, made with soft taco shells and apple pie filling, and an apple crisp type topping. (Our own creation, and much better than it sounds!!) Any of the old rotten apples would be much appreciated by E-Z, Jake and Xena! See you in a few? =)

Apple dumplings!!! My mom and aunts just did this yesterday! I so missed it all - but they are in the freezer waiting for me to get there in Oct to eat 'em up! You can freeze them cooked or uncooked.

Love, love, love apples! I envy the boxes! :-)
I just put your blog as my new "Featured Favorite" and was wondering if you would rather me not list the state where you live. Some people are extra careful about that, so if you'd like me to remove the location I can do that. Just let me know. :-)
